The Danish National Board of Health has chosen to translate the entire human medical domain of SNOMED CT® from English to Danish so that it may provide the foundation for health care sector work and communication with patients and relatives, both now and in the future. Synonyms will not be translated as they are developed by Danish clinicians. It is essential that the synonyms in the health care terminology are acceptable and meaningful for health care professionals, patients and relatives. The bilingual terminology makes it possible to facilitate communications between clinicians and English-speaking patients and relatives.
